PRESIDENT'S CORNER
On behalf of the Mu Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I welcome you to our website.
We are an organization of college-educated women committed to three Fundamental Principles: Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service.
Since May 16, 1975, when our eleven visionary charter members blessed the University of Central Florida's campus with Delta Sigma Theta's presence, we have changed lives and bettered the community.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. is a non-profit organization whose primary purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in our local communities and throughout the world.
Founded on January 13, 1913 by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University, the Sorority is currently a sisterhood of more than 200,000 predominantly Black college educated women.
This includes 1,000 collegiate and alumnae chapters located in the United States, Canada, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and the Republic of Korea.
The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization's Five-Point Programmatic Thrust:
-
Economic Development
-
Physical and Mental Health
-
Educational Development
-
Political Awareness and Involvement
-
International Awareness and Involvement
As we enter into this upcoming school year, expect outstanding programs, stellar academic excellence, healthy lifestyles as well as political actions. We will continuously serve the community and assist the Central Florida area in becoming the best it can be.
